Many people are familiar with how the image tag works, but not everyone knows what it does. Simply put, it is a method of embedding images. How does one do so?
How to use the "" tag?
In most forum/community boards, there is a little icon that allows you to add and upload images. However, not every forum has the ability to provide a hosting service. Instead, they have something called Insert Image function. Usually, this function can be accessed within the reply window along with other text editing features. The Insert Image is represented by a photograph icon which automatically inserts the "" tag for you like so:
Where do you place the image is the next step. All you have to do is find a random picture on the Internet, and paste the direct picture link in between the tags like this:
The "" tag allows any picture formats including .png, .jpg, .gif, and .bmp . I don't prefer posing pictures in .bmp (BitMap) format because some web browsers may not display them correctly. There will be a future tutorial on what specific trait each image format possesses.
What if I want to include a hyperlink on the image?
The process of doing this is also pretty simple. You will need to add a hyperlink or url tag, so that when you click on the image, it will redirect you to another page. Below is the format:
What is happening in that code is that I am calling the "" tag, and telling it to reference the website. In between, the "" tag, I am telling the image to simple contain or hold website reference.
There you have it!
