Tables
The first and most important thing to learn to use is tables.
Here's how it looks like:
td starts a new row. remember to close it with /td
tr starts a column. same logic applies to this, /tr
To put it simple, think about each of the spaces between td and /td a separate post withing your post, aligned however you choose, and place /tr and tr as wherever you want a line break.
A simple use for a table could be to simply divide your post to two sections, with images in the left side and text in the right side.

If you want to make something to really stand out and look good, most of the time you will need images.
Before you can post a picture, it needs to be uploaded to the internet. The easiest way to upload images is most likely dropbox. Good alternatives include imgur and imageshack (if you use the uploader). You can insert an image with
While .jpg pictures might not really be that useful, .png and .gif pictures (at least) can have transparent areas. On top of that, .gif can also be animated.

You can get pretty creative with pictures. For an example, you could make a custom image for a horizontal line, vertical line, or other decorations.
